AL CD-2: St Rep Barry Moore (R) files FEC paperwork to challenge Cong Martha Roby (R) next year.
Republican Martha Roby has represented Alabama’s Second Congressional District since defeating Democratic incumbent Bobby Bright in the 2010 elections, and her Working Families Flexibility Act was endorsed by the Trump Administration yesterday. Still, Roby may have a lingering target on her back from some Republicans for her response to the Access Hollywood tape last year. The Congresswoman declared she could not support Donald Trump in reaction to it, and that sparked a write-in challenge from Becky Gerritson, a TEA Party activist. In the end, almost 30,000 write-in votes were tallied, and Roby defeated her Democratic challenger by only 8.3%. Barry Moore, who just filed to challenge her, represents House District 91, and has a higher profile than either of Roby’s 2016 primary opponents.
